Stores and Procurement Internship
Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and organized Stores and Procurement Intern to assist with inventory management, procurement processes, and vendor coordination. The intern will support the team in managing the flow of goods, ensuring accurate records, and optimizing procurement activities. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in supply chain management and procurement operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Assist in tracking and maintaining inventory levels, ensuring accurate record-keeping in inventory management systems.
Support in conducting regular stock audits and preparing inventory reports.
Help ensure the timely receipt and dispatch of goods while maintaining organized and labeled stock areas.
Procurement Support:
Assist with the procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment as per company requirements.
Help prepare purchase orders, obtain quotations, and track order status to ensure timely deliveries.
Coordinate with vendors for product availability, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Vendor Management:
Assist in maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
Help in evaluating vendor performance and recommending improvements where needed.
Support negotiations on pricing, delivery terms, and payment conditions under the guidance of the procurement team.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Assist in maintaining up-to-date procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and invoices.
Support the team in ensuring all procurement documentation is accurate, complete, and filed correctly.
Help prepare reports related to procurement activities, including cost analysis and delivery performance.
Cost Control and Budgeting:
Assist in tracking purchase orders against the budget and help identify opportunities for cost savings.
Support in analyzing market trends and pricing strategies to make data-driven procurement decisions.
Supplier Evaluation:
Assist in assessing suppliers based on product quality, delivery time, and cost-effectiveness.
Help in updating the supplier database and identifying new potential suppliers based on business needs.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Support in ensuring that all procurement processes comply with company policies and legal requirements.
Assist in identifying risks within the supply chain and proposing mitigation strategies.
General Support:
Provide administrative support to the procurement and stores teams.
Participate in team meetings, contributing ideas for improving procurement and inventory management processes.
Assist in coordinating logistics for incoming and outgoing shipments.
Requirements:
Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
Basic understanding of procurement processes, inventory management, and supply chain principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and inventory management software.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
